Showing is always better than telling, which is why video tutorials and lessons are way more successful than written articles. Designed for teachers, Salasil can record everything that is happening on the scree and it can also record from a webcam and microphone. The best part is that everything can be done quickly, without too much preparation. You can just start it up, hit a Record button and begin your lesson.

The software is offered free of charge and it works on all modern Windows operating systems. It comes in a small package and it can be installed fairly fast, without making any complicated configurations along the way. There is no need to prepare any special tools or codecs and you don't have to sacrifice a significant amount of resources.

When launched, Salasil will provide you with three main options, for different kinds of recording sessions. You can choose to record only the screen, but you can also record yourself with a webcam at the same time or use nothing but a webcam and mic, without recording the screen.

If you decide to record the screen, the software will bring up options for starting and stopping the recording on a small pane. You may record the entire screen, but it is also possible to define a smaller area. What's more, Salasil provides you with a series of annotation tools, located on a separate tool pane, so you can turn your desktop into a whiteboard. You can use pens and markers to highlight specific details on your screen and you can also place post-it notes.

When your lesson is complete and you stop the recording, the software will start rendering the video and present it on a large window, so you can preview it. Finally, the video can be saved in a local folder, in MP4 format.

Creating video lessons can be a simple and effortless task with Salasil.

Pros

Salasil lets you record yourself with a webcam, as well as your desktop. It places various screen annotation tools at your disposal. The software's controls are simple, well organized and easy to understand.

Cons

The user interface may not place nice with certain resolutions. It would be better if it were smaller or if it could be resizable.
